The next day, Zeke Jaeger informs the Warriors and Colt Grice of an upcoming festival in Liberio, where dignitaries will be invited from abroad. Reiner Braun shares some of his experiences on the island, confusing his cousin, Gabi, when he refers to meeting "all sorts of people" there rather than universally condemning them. The Warriors and Warrior candidates return home to Liberio where they are reunited with their families. However, taking the island will be difficult as none of Marley's ships have returned for the past three years, making it clear that Paradis Island controls at least two of the Nine Titans. Marley plans to revive the Paradis Island Operation to capture the Founding Titan to buy a few more years for their military to restructure and modernize for a post-Titan reality. Given how narrowly Marley achieved victory over the Mid-East Allied Forces, it is clear to Marley's military leaders that the era of their country's domination via Titan warfare is coming to an end. A peace treaty is signed, but the battle's outcome reminds Marley of the growing need to acquire the Founding Titan. With the fort secure, Zeke uses his Beast Titan's pitching to sink the naval fleet stationed nearby, however, artillery fire from the ships heavily damages the Armored Titan. The Armored Titan joins the battle, destroying the remaining anti-Titan artillery with the Jaw. Zeke Jaeger uses his Titan power to transform Eldians into Pure Titans, creating a powerful airstrike.

The deployment of Galliard and Pieck clears the Mid-East trenches, which allows their airborne operation to begin. Warrior candidate Gabi Braun is approved to destroy it by Marleyan Commander Magath, which she succeeds in through the use of perfidy. The presence of an armored train prevents Marley from deploying its Titans. Warrior candidate Falco Grice is saved by his brother Colt, who returns him to the trenches nearby. That’s the power of this episode.Īs of this writing, there is no official date other than “Fall 2020” for Season 4 of Attack on Titan, but if it can keep pumping out episodes like these, then I think I’ll be very happy with the conclusion.Marley besieges Fort Slava, aiming to end their four-year conflict with the Mid-East Allied Forces sparked by their defeat in Shiganshina. And then there are shows like Attack on Titan that make you want to go back to the first episode because you’re wondering if there were hints even back then. There are shows like Lost that start out fantastic but then end up being disappointing because the writers didn’t think things through. I fell in love with Attack on Titan because of the premise in the first season, but this episode made me a believer in this story since it expanded the lore beyond my wildest imagination. So many mysteries are uncovered in this episode, but they create even more mysteries.

I don’t want to spoil this episode since it’s the best in the series, but we also learn about how the mindless Titans come to exist, as well as how Eren’s able to transform in the first place. Eren has a dream about the life of his father, and we learn that there was a whole world outside of the walls that existed. Plus, the Female Titan is just badass, and a welcome, albeit horrifying, addition. Whereas up to this point, he seemed like the only character who actually had his head on his shoulders, in this episode, it made it seem like he was a questionable leader. This is a thrilling episode because of the new location-the dark forest-and also because it puts Levi’s leadership capabilities into question. But things aren’t right, since scout leader, Levi, who always appears to be calm in the face of danger, seems to have no plan at all, putting the scouts in peril. Newly safe, they think they’re going to retreat, but lo and behold, the attack has just moved somewhere else-this time to a giant forest for better positioning. The Female Titan decimated the troops with a surprise attack in the last episode, and Armin, Reiner, and Jean are pinned down. There’s a new Titan in town, and it’s a female. “Forest of Giant Trees: The 57th Exterior Scouting Mission, Part 2” Season 1, Episode 18
